We decided to build a small pond in our outside classroom to see if we could encourage any wildlife to visit. We worked together to find a suitable site and build a pond that we thought would be appealing. After only three days we had our first visitor, a frog!
British Science Week
We had great fun this week, exploring and investigating! We planned, designed and carried out investigations into floating and sinking, creating bubbles, melting ice and creating a bug hotel. We worked together to develop out investigation skills including predicting, observing, measuring and recording our results.
Our trip to Slimbridge
We very much enjoyed our recent trip to Slimbridge Wildlife Park, where we saw many different birds and animals. We had the opportunity to feed ducks, geese and swans and we saw flamingos in all different shades of pink!
We were lucky enough to be able to watch the otters being fed, before trying our hand at pond dipping. We caught insects, snail and even some fish!
The best part of the trip was Welly Boot Land, where we splashed in the river and drenched ourselves and our teacher!
Planting and growing
We have been learning about plants and have planted strawberries, runner beans, tomatoes and peas
in our outside classroom. The strawberries were the first plants to grow and we have been sharing the fruits with our friends.
Learning about change when shopping
Pushing canes in for the runner beans to climb up
Planting strawberry plants
We needed to search under the leaves!
Careful not to squash them
Some strawberries were not quite ripe
African drumming with Justin.
Justin encouraged us to make lots of noise.
We learnt how to play very quietly.
Playing to the beat was quite challenging, the hats helped us think it through.
