School Leadership

 Student Leadership

West Ashton Primary School feels that Student Leadership is an important part of our school. The group is made up of recommendations from the class teachers to The Headteacher.  These are pupils that the class teacher feels will be role models in the school, have leadership qualities, will work hard, have lots of ideas and really want to make a difference to the school.

In the past the Student Leadership Group have focused their ideas on how to improve the environment at lunchtimes for all the school. They have organised a zone system for the playground so activities happen in different areas and ensuring that all children can play the games they want safely. They raised funds to buy more equipment for the different zones.  This was done through West Ashton has Talent, a sporting afternoon and a quiz. They have led fundraising for Children in Need. This was incredibly successful with over £600 being raised. Other activities organised included pennies for Pudsey, pyjama day and a sponsored muddy walk.

The Student Leadership Group have led a Sports relief day and organised a series of fund raising opportunities to raise money for a water fountain to go outside in the playground. The children considered the price from four different models and voted on the preferred value for money option. The group then decided how they would fund-raise to get the money they would need to provide the water fountain.  Some of our student leaders have sat on The Trowbridge Youth Parliament. The Parliament tackles issues relating to Trowbridge.
