Religious Education

As a Church of England School, Religious Education is based on the Wiltshire Agreed Syllabus which is produced by the Salisbury Diocese and the local Standing Advisory Committee for Religious Education (SACRE).
We use Christian Concepts Unpacked and Discovery RE to support the delivery of the Wiltshire Agreed Syllabus.
The 'Christian Concepts Unpacked' resources have been developed to support the teaching of Christianity in schools under three main themes: 'Prophecy', 'Salvation' and 'Trinity'. The units all use the engagement-enquiry-evaluation-expression approach.
The Discovery RE Scheme of Work is an enquiry based scheme for the whole of the primary age range covering teaching of the world's main religions.
One of the fundamental philosophies of both schemes is that children are free to make their own choices and decisions concerning religion and belief.   RE does not try to persuade but rather to inform and develop the skills with which evaluation can take place.
